This guide will show yoiu how to set up raid one in the windows disk management console. This by default cannot be done and reuires some windows patched files. The option for raid 1 in vista and win7 is already there but not in xp

the patched files are availiable in that guide or HERE

Before rebuild run smart driver backup and save copy of your drivers (google it to get it). save these drivers onto usb pen

Reboot and boot from windows xp cd

Create 2 partitions (change sizes according to HD size) good guide is a 1/3 for c:/ and 2/3 for d:/ (data) )

Install xp

Reload drivers

Run all microsoft updates

Fully loaded freeware pc: install the following

IE8 or alternative browser

Klite codec pack

Real alternative

Quicktime alternative

Dopdf /cutepdf

Foxit reader

Burnaware / imgburn

Java JRE

Flash

Win media player 11

7zip

Open-office (if you don’t have copy of MS office 2007

Final stage is install security. As It slows down system setup for the provious steps

Map documents to: 2nd partition d:\my documents (means you don’t have to back them up each time after rebuilds ) do the same with any outlook pst’s too

convert videos:  anyvideoconverter
author dvd: dvd flick
rip dvds: handbrake or fairuse

Download windows 7 usb/dvd download tool

Select your windows 7 iso file ( if you don’t have it as an iso file but just on dvd media you can use a 3^rd party piece of software to create your iso from the dvd disk, Such as Poweriso, Ultraiso and possibly other freeware software that can create iso’s too

Note some self-created  iso’s  (or downloaded) can flag up errors that the format is not right. Even though when burnt to dvd windows 7 installs fine. If it is a working iso ie you have tested it on dvd media. Use this tool to fix your iso file  isoavdpcopy.exe 

extract exe into same directory as windows 7 iso 

run this tool  from the command prompt

enter isoavdpcopy followed by your iso file and hit enter

You will get this message if successful

Now reselect your fixed iso with win7 usb tool

Then follow the next few steps to finish process. Select usb and direct installation to your usb drive (drive size required is 4gb recommended)

net user administrator /active:yes command to active it

Admin account now visable in control panel users

then enter this:

 /output:c:\Progs.txt product get name,version   (creates txt file in c:  )

1. Go to the folder-path, “Office2007\ProPlus.WW” (or any ??????.WW folder for other editions such as standard/enterprise/etc)
2. Modify “config.xml”, or copy it to somewhere else & modify it, using my posted code below as a sample.
3. If you modified it “in location”, then setup will take up the changes automatically.
4. once config is replaced the contents can be burned back onto CD for distribution.

If upgrading from say office 2003. the install will auto reboot the machine after installing office 2007. great for admins so that once install is kicked off. machine is ready on return with office 2007 fully installed

For full install of office  use this:
change configuration product  to what ever your ?????.ww directory is called, in this case ProPlus.WW  therefore : ProPlus
change product key (dont use spaces)
change username
change company name

After you have downloaded the service pack two (SP2) file from Microsoft. say save to c:\

Copy entire content off office 2007 cd to a folder on computer say: c:\office2007

Now we need to extract the sp2 download

Create a folder on your computer  say:    c:\sp2

Next you will have to launch command prompt. Run as administrator (right click on cmd.exe  for run as admin option), to enjoy full privileges. Next you will need to run the following command

CD c:\office2007sp2-kb953195-fullfile-en-us.exe /extract:c:\sp2  
 (change locations if you have used different from my example locations)

During the extraction process you will have to agree to the End User License Agreement (EULA), but otherwise you need to do nothing.

Once the Installer is done you need to move all the content of the c:\sp2 folder to the Updates folder in the Office install folder (c:\office2007\updates), and this is pretty much it.

The result can be burnt on a DVD (integrating the upadates usually increases to office2007 quite a bit and will not fit onto a 700mb cd) 

or save locally or on a network share to install across a network
